Caring for Others

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
– Galatians 6:2 (ESV)

One of the strengths of living together in covenant community is the opportunity to encourage each other. The Bible instructs us to encourage one another especially during hard and difficult times.

However, we become so entangled with the affairs of our own lives that we rarely have time to consider others. The “cares of this world” are enough to keep us all busy attending to ourselves. I believe that this is one of Satan’s strategies for paralyzing the church community. If he can keep us all busy worrying about ourselves we never consider that someone else may be hurting or that they could be encouraged by our struggles.

Let us be reminded of Paul’s words to the Church of Corinth…

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
– 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (ESV)

Take time today to pause, contemplate, pray, and consider how you may bear another’s burden.

Because He Lives,
Rob
