Chapter Eight: The Incomparable Sufferings

The Anguish of Jesus Christ

“No one has ever borne so much injustice with so little vengeance.” Take some time today and contemplate that sentence. Jesus, who knew no sin, bore the wrath of God that was rightly mine.

I believe the writer is correct when he writes that, “If we had been forced to watch [Jesus’ crucifixion], we probably would have passed out.” That does not mean to say that no one else has ever been tortured or beaten worse than Christ, but that of all those that lived, Jesus did not deserve it. He was innocent…He was God!

Yet, God planned it, orchestrated it, and Jesus chose it.

Let us ponder the sufferings of Christ.
